A Practical Guide to Flower Essences

Flower Essences are one of my all-time favorite energetic treatment modalities because it is very low force yet can have profound effects!

Dr. Edward Bach (1886-1936) was a true visionary for his time, in an interview he stated

"Healing will pass from the domain of the physical body to that of spiritual and mental healing, which by bringing about harmony between the Soul and mind will eradicate the very basic cause of disease and then allow such physical means to be used as may be necessary to complete the cure of the body".

In 1930  Dr. Bach began his research in flower essences and decided to dedicate his life to understanding different personality types and then corresponding them to healing plants.

So what are flower essences exactly?

Well, it is difficult to categorize the Bach Flower System but it is an energetic healing method similar to classical homeopathy in which the essences influence the human energy system rather than the physical body.

How can we use them in daily life?

Flower essences focus on the "disharmonies" or negative behavioral patterns that we sometimes find ourselves in.

An example could be to use the essence of Chestnut Bud (the learning flower) while trying to quit a habit such as smoking or drinking coffee because this essence can enable us to objectively observe our own patterns and influence a positive change.

There are currently 38 Bach Flower Remedies which focus on a diverse array of feelings, emotions, and behaviors that we might experience on life's journey.

Still crying over your ex-boyfriend 6 months later?...

Honeysuckle (for those who dwell on past relationships or events with dreamy reverie)

Trying to quit smoking?...

Chestnut Bud (for those who fail to learn from experience, repeating patterns or mistakes again and again. Also addresses obsessive-compulsive tendencies)
