What is Real Food?
There's so much confusion on what to eat, where to buy, and most companies don't help by trying to secretly disguise products that contain sugar with the 57 aliases they use.
Natural doesn't mean anything!
Straight From the FDA's website "From a food science perspective, it is difficult to define a food product that is 'natural' because the food has probably been processed and is no longer the product of the earth.” That said, FDA has not developed a definition for use of the term natural or its derivatives. However, the agency has not objected to the use of the term if the food does not contain added color, artificial flavors, or synthetic substances."
Organic has more klout
If the label states "USDA Organic", "Certified Organic" which means that 95% of the ingredients must be free of synthetic additives including pesticides, chemical fertilizers & dyes, and must not be processed using industrial solvents, irradiation, or genetic engineering.
Follow the rainbow
So, this might not be okay in fashion but in the case, it's okay... the more colors the better.
Visualize beets, radishes, carrots, kale, mixed with mushrooms & apples, and infused with the vibrant hues of blueberries and mangos.
Listen to your gut
You know your body better than anyone.
Does your skin breakout after eating certain foods?
Have you ever noticed that after a meal you wake up the next day, try on your favorite dress and it's super tight?
Start paying attention to foods that make your thrive and foods that make you feel icky. I know that rice makes me tired, processed sugar gives me horrible headaches, and I feel bloated after eating dairy.
Keep It Simple & Create A Plan
Reading labels is great but, you could literally spend all day looking up the 10 syllable names on each product.
If you can dig it up or pick it, then you can probably eat it
Always buy the dirty dozen organic
Spice it up
It's okay not to eat perfect, go by the 80/20 rule
If it takes you more than 5 minutes to just open the package there's something wrong
When in doubt eat fruits & veggies instead of not knowing what to eat, skipping lunch, and then going through a drive-thru on your way home because your dying of hunger.
Bond with nature
You might have had an on-and-off relationship in the past, but now it's time to create a lasting relationship with nature.
Schedule some on-on-one time to ground yourself with the Earth.
