This type of exercise is great for:
Weight loss
Stress Management
Decreasing inflammation (decreases CRP)
Increases the good cholesterol (HDL)
Improves Cognition (It increases BDNF which helps with memory and focus)
So, what exactly is interval exercise?
It's simply alternating bursts of intense activity with intervals of lighter activity. For example, during your morning walk begin incorporating short bursts of jogging. The best part? It requires no equipment and you can pretty much do it anywhere!
How do you know you are in the interval training range?
Calculate your maximum heart rate (or click here ) : 220 minus your age = ...
Interval training is typically 80% of your maximum heart rate
