Smelling the sweet scents of jasmine & rose, hearing the birds sing, walking the dirt roads covered in flowers and lined with stones, and looking at the gorgeous view of the mountains is how I started my morning.
LIFE AS USUAL
The women put on their boots with their dresses, grab an old basket and head out into nature to wildcraft. Hours later they return with dandelion root, wild asparagus, sage, and dittany.
My favorite part of village life so far is the 1-3pm nap time that everyone partakes in.
How lovely to see the village become quiet for 2 hours each day and simply rest.
Today is a reminder for me to stop and smell the flowers.
Every morning since I have arrived in Crete I start the day with Greek coffee and it's amazing! That's quite a compliment coming from a Seattlite, the birthplace of coffee in the U.S. (and Starbucks).
Why is Greek coffee so much better? Well, it's all in the preparation which creates a higher concentration of more protective compounds than your average cup of joe.
