Doesn't it seem counter intuitive to apply oil to your face before bed instead of washing it with facial cleanser and then doing a little exfoliation?
A nightly ritual of face washing can be actually contributing to your break outs! Why? Many over-the-counter face washes strip the oil out of your skin which perpetuates the endless cycle! You go to bed with clean, tight, dry skin only to wake up with an oil slicked face. During the night the skin tries to rebalance but eventually over compensates for the lack of moisture.
Your skin naturally produces oil and needs it. The oil alone does not contribute to breakouts but a combination of hormone imbalances, buildup of dead skin cells, bacteria, and makeup.
Oil cleansing is a great way to keep your skin looking radiant without harsh soap or products.
So, what oil should you use? Castor oil is a base, which is also anti-inflammatory and cleansing. Jojoba oil is a gentle light oil, which can help rebalance and moisturize. Rose hip seed oil is the natural version of Retin-A because it contains retinoic acid and tons of Vitamin C. Mix 15% castor oil with 5% rose hip seed oil and the remaining 80% of jojoba oil.
Give it a try!
Take a wash cloth with warm water and apply it to your face to open up your pores
Next, add a quarter size amount of the oil to your hands and rub them together
Then rub your hands on your face, slowly and gently massaging it which will help remove makeup while drawing out impurities
Finally, take the warm washcloth and lightly remove any excess oil, leaving a light coat on the skin
